Why it works

Whetstone results, without the whetstone

  1. 01

The angle is locked for you

Built-in magnets hold the blade at exactly 12 to 22 degrees while you roll. Freehand guessing is where home sharpening goes wrong, so it's removed entirely.

  2. 02

    Industrial diamond face

The drum's diamond side rebuilds the edge; the fine side polishes it clean. Two passes, one tool, no water, no mess.

  3. 03

    Kind to good knives

No motorized wheel chewing metal off your blade. The drum removes only what the edge actually needs.

Simple on purpose

Four steps, about ninety seconds

  1. 1
Chef's knife held upright against the RollHone magnetic block

Snap the knife to the block

Magnets grab the blade and hold it steady.

  2. 2
The five engraved angle settings on the RollHone block

    Pick your angle

12° for razor work, 22° for heavy duty.

  3. 3
RollHone drum rolling along a knife edge at a locked angle

    Roll along the edge

Back and forth, diamond face first.

  4. 4
Flipping the RollHone drum to its honing face beside a sharpened knife

    Flip and finish

A few passes on the fine face to polish.

Before you ask

Questions, answered

Will it sharpen serrated knives?

No. It's built for straight-edged blades: chef's knives, santokus, paring, utility, boning and carving knives. Serrated bread knives need a different tool, and we'd rather tell you that now.

Which angle should I use?

15° is the sweet spot for most kitchen knives. Go 12° for delicate slicing blades, 17° to 22° for cleavers, outdoor knives, and anything that takes abuse.

Does it fit long chef's knives?

Yes. The block holds the blade while the drum rolls along it, so length doesn't matter. Any straight blade the magnets can hold, it can sharpen.

How long does the diamond face last?

Years of home use. Diamond abrasive doesn't wear like a whetstone, and there are no pads or cartridges to replace.

How long is shipping?

7 to 14 business days to the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland, tracked the whole way. Shipping direct from the supplier's warehouse is what keeps the price under half of the big-name rolling sharpeners.
